Madrid, 17th November 2017. - Yesterday evening, World Duty Free stores inaugurated Christmas 2017 in Spain. Vanesa Lorenzo, the renowned Spanish model, designer and fashion and wellness influencer, together with Pedro Castro, Division CEO Southern Europe & Africa, Dufry (parent company of World Duty Free) inaugurated the 2017 Christmas period from the Terminal 4 World Duty Free store at Madrid-Barajas airport through the symbolic act of lighting the Christmas tree.
In a period of the year as important for commerce as Christmas is, in key transport hubs such as airports with their increasing traffic numbers, World Duty Free stores are well-placed as a reference point of sale for Christmas shopping, thanks to their premium offer of beauty, gourmet and liquor products. Another feature of World Duty Free stores is undoubtedly the exclusive products they offer such as Protos "Travel Edition" wine, Cvne Reserva "Exclusive Travelers" and "The Journey Collection" from the Ramón Bilbao winery, Spanish wines prepared especially for World Duty Free and served throughout the event.
Vanesa Lorenzo highlighted her love for shopping at World Duty Free, stating that "For me these stores are a reference in every way. When you travel from one place to another, especially in my profession as a model and designer, one is very grateful to have a store where you know you will be able to find a variety of alternatives of unbeatable quality or even discover exclusive products that can only be found at the airport".
The model, after lighting the tree, raised a glass with the guests to toast the event with one of the exclusive wines sold at World Duty Free. Following the ceremony, guests were invited to try some of the passengers' favorite local gourmet products, such as Artequeso cheeses and Cinco Jotas ham.
In his speech, Pedro Castro added that World Duty Free’s positioning is the result of a clear strategy that Dufry has been implementing for years and that is set to continue in the medium-long term: offer the best Spanish and international brands in a high-quality, welcoming environment, whilst paying special attention to detail with the passenger’s shopping experience.
