Following on from the success of the first Summer Festival event which World Duty Free hosted in partnership with London Gatwick Airport last year, Summer Festival 2019 launched on 22nd May to help passengers celebrate the start of the British summer in style.

To raise consumer awareness of the campaign across social media, World Duty Free hosted a VIP Summer Festival Media Event in their North terminal store on 5th June which was attended by 10 bloggers and influencers.  They were able to explore the store, experience beauty makeovers, discover new and exclusive products and feel the spirit of summer, as a resident DJ played festival inspired tracks!

There will be plenty of in-store entertainment on offer for the 15.3 million passengers expected to travel through the airport between now and the end of August.  Beauty brands including MAC, Estée Lauder and Clinique will be offering complimentary makeovers to customers visiting the World Duty Free stores in the airport’s North and South Terminals.  And as part of an exclusive Gatwick deal, World Duty Free customers will be able to buy a 125ml Lancaster Tan Maximizer for only £4.99, when £100 or more is spent in store on beauty products.

World Duty Free will be using the Summer Festival campaign to showcase two new flavours of Edinburgh Gin – Rhubarb & Ginger and Watermelon & Lime, both of which are the perfect base for cooling summer cocktails.  Watermelon & Lime is exclusive to Dufry and its World Duty Free stores, so visitors to Gatwick can enjoy a flavour that simply can’t be found on the high street this summer!  Tasting bars in store will be sampling the new gin flavours and also serving a non-alcoholic “mocktail” for customers to enjoy.

Davene Stirling, Commercial Director at World Duty Free commented, “Summer has officially begun with World Duty Free at Gatwick and we’re delighted to be staging our second Summer Festival campaign in partnership with the airport.  It provides the perfect backdrop against which to showcase new and exclusive products for summer and create an engaging festival feel in our stores.  We’re confident that this year’s event will be another great success and will create unique and memorable experiences for our customers.”

Rachel Bulford, Head of Retail, Gatwick Airport added, “Last year’s inaugural Summer Festival was a big success for Gatwick so we’re delighted to launch this airport-wide celebration once again. It’s great that our retail partners have joined us in getting into the festival spirit, with World Duty Free offering some fantastic Gatwick exclusives across drinks, beauty and fashion.”
