Dabiz Muñoz and Avolta team up to revolutionize the dining experience across the airport travel channel in Spain
Avolta and the world's best chef for a third year in a row according to The Best Chef Awards, Dabiz Muñoz announce their joint venture to develop new F&B concept, Hungry Club. Providing a revolutionary dining experience to travelers in main Spanish airports, the partnership is part of Avolta's new commercial strategy.
The joint venture, created through Grupo UniverXO, which represents all of Dabiz Muñoz's restaurant establishments, has had its start this week with the opening of the first Hungry Club concept in Terminal T4 Satellite at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Further openings will follow in the airports of Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga amongst others, with a unique and revolutionary offer, designed and adapted to the needs of every traveler.
The new concept combines an exclusive F&B offering with an unprecedented dining experience, providing travelers with new delicacies from the three-Michelin-star chef. The recipes are full of flavor and contrasts, without borders, changing constantly and varying depending on the time of day (breakfast, brunch, dinner, quick takeaway). The gastronomic offer stands out for its high quality and local product base, with the unique interpretation of Dabiz Muñoz.
Isabel Zarza, CEO Southern Europe Avolta, commented: “With this project we bring to airports an exceptional offer from the best chef in the world, and we do so following his concept of catering. Combining innovative travel retail and F&B offers into new hybrid commercial concepts confirms Avolta’s ability to revolutionize the traveler’s experience through innovative highly experiential shopping and dining locations, such as Hungry Club. The joint venture is part of our wider innovation and expansion path in Spain, introducing several new Travel Retail and F&B concepts across the airport channel. Leveraging on Aena’s partnership and other collaborations we can focus on the uniqueness and excellence of each territory, supporting local businesses and enhancing the airport's sense of place.”
Dabiz Muñoz pointed out that, “…in the XO world we never stop developing new ideas, always under our own rules and codes, which are what have allowed us to successfully develop a world-class restaurant like Diverxo, as well as a food truck or an incredible home delivery service like GOXO. We have been working on Hungry Club for a long time and for me it has been incredible. Due to my work, I spend a lot of time in airports, I know the dynamics, the pace, the rush to not arrive and the dead hours of a delay. I travel to the five continents practically every year and I have been studying for a long time how to do something that has never been done before, a hedonistic, dynamic and frenetic experience with the quality that we impose on ourselves. I am very happy to collaborate with a global player like Avolta, and that this project is seeing the light of day.”
María José Cuenda, Commercial and Real Estate Managing Director of Aena, the Spanish airports operator: “The arrival of Dabiz Muñoz and his innovative Hungry Club concept in association with Avolta at Aena airports is a clear example of our success in ensuring that our terminals offer top quality services with the most international sense of place. The presence of well-known food and beverage brands allows passengers to enjoy a unique and varied airport experience. It also demonstrates our commitment to our customers, offering high-quality and wellness options to travelers at all Aena airports around the world.”
