UN Geneva and the Dufry Group Launch Global Goals Awareness-Raising Campaign at Zürich Airport as Davos Hosts World Economic Forum
For the fourth year in a row, the United Nations in Geneva has partnered with Dufry Group to bring the campaign #YouNeedToKnow to Zürich Airport
For the fourth year in a row, the United Nations in Geneva has partnered with Dufry Group to bring the campaign #YouNeedToKnow to Zürich Airport in support of efforts aimed at achieving the Global Goals.
The campaign was first launched in Geneva in November 2016. It has since travelled around the world’s largest airports, including Zurich, Madrid, London Heathrow, Malpensa in Milano, Mexico and Moscow. Now the campaign is back at Zürich Airport and Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport from 15 January to 14 February, in time to welcome people attending the World Economic Forum in Davos. An average of 80,000 passengers travel through Zürich Airport daily.
Travelers are greeted at a 50-square-metre pop-up stand showcasing communication material related to the Global Goals, including videos, publications and games.
Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, launched the pop-up stand on her way to Davos. “Today, progress is being made in many places, but, overall, action to meet the Goals is not yet advancing at the speed or scale required. We need to deliver concrete results for those most in need and speed up concrete actions to deliver the Goals by 2030. Continuing to bring the Goals to passengers from all around the world is part of the Decade of Action calls for accelerating sustainable solutions to all the world’s biggest challenges,” she said.
Installed prominently at the open space at Check-in 2 (in front of departure boarding pass scanning), the campaign visuals remind passengers there won’t be a second chance to save the planet for future generations. It urges them to rally around the Global Goals and think about how to rid the world of poverty, provide quality education, guarantee gender equality and foster economic growth, among the many challenges the world must tackle swiftly. The campaign encourages people to take pictures at the photo booth and share on social media using the hashtags #YouNeedToKnow, #ActNow, #GlobalGoals.
Julian Diaz, Dufry CEO, said: “We are very pleased to continue to support the #YouNeedToKnow awareness raising campaign to further promote the UN Global Goals. We have been supporting it since 2016 and were able to reach over 55 million travelers in 35 airports worldwide so far. I am glad the campaign is now back at Zurich Airport.”
“Zurich Airport thanks Dufry for their initiative with our travelers to create awareness about the important development goals of the UN. We need to engage the many to move forward,” said Stefan Gross, Chief Commercial Officer at Zurich Airport.
